QUESTION: 

Brother Meeks, I am interested in getting baptized at my church but I don’t know for sure if I should be emerged by water or otherwise. The church I attend baptizes much like the Catholic church. My family believes in submersion although I don’t attend their church anymore, and tells me this is wrong. Is baptism essential or necessary to get me to heaven? In what way do you baptize your church members? What do you tell them when they want to be baptized? Your opinion is most welcomed…

I have provided some scriptures for you to understand what we believe and how you should be baptized. Hope this helps. In Jesus name, Brother Meeks

Baptism in water in Jesus name.

Col. 3:17

 

In water

Eph.4:5 tells us there is, “…One Lord, one faith, one baptism.” (v.5)

Acts 10:47 tells us that water was used in baptism, “Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptizes?” (v.47)

St. John 3:23 Tells us much water was used in baptism, “…because there was much water there.” (v.23)

In what name

Luke 24:47 tells us that baptism is to be preformed in the name of Jesus, “And that repentance and remission of sin should be preached in his name among all nations.” (v.47)

Examples: Acts 2:38 tells us “…Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin.” (v.38)

Acts 8:16 tell us the of people Samaria was baptized in Jesus name, “…only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” (v.16)

Acts 19:5 tells us that the Apostle Paul taught baptism in Jesus name. “…when they heard this they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” (v.5)
