Isaiah1:3 Thoughtlessness about the things of the world, and thoughtlessness about the things of eternity, is a very common sin among the people of God.
May I say, Superficial thinking leads to superficial living.
The scripture stated “The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib,” (Isa.1:3) but how often we the Lord’s people fail to recognise our Owner, or the blessings He provided for us “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, ” (Ecc.12:1).
Mere talk and mechanical action will never be a substitute for solemn heart reflection “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” (Titus 1:16).
If we would take time to meditate until the fire burns, our testimony would not be so powerless and fruitless “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, (Titus1:20).
“My people doth not consider. ” This is the language of wounded love. To the church at Ephesus the Lord said, “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.” (Rev.2:4).
Think on some of those things which we fail to consider as we ought, and of which God might justly complain.
We do not consider the Pit out of which Christ Jesus has delivered us.
If we would consider we would be more Humble “Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.” (Jh.13:8).
How ready we are, like Israel, to forget our bondage in Egypt, “My people doth not consider “
My people doth not consider the Pit out of which we have been Digged, or we would be more Humble,
How ready we are, like Israel, to forget our bondage in Egypt, and as we look upon other worldly, sin-sodden lives, fail to remember that such were some of us.
We doth not consider the cost at which we have been Redeemed, or we would be more Thankful.
Not with silver and gold, but with that blood which speaks of the sacrifice of Divine love and of life.
Have we considered that the peace which we now enjoy was purchased by the blood of Christ’s Cross,
It is mine, not for any good in me, but because of His infinite mercy and grace ? “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” (I.Cor.15:10).
We doth not consider our Relationship to Him who Saves, or we would be more Restful. “Ye are not your own.” ye belong to Christ. Have we thought deep enough into this blessed truth?
As members of His body, will He not be very careful over us? Why take anxious thought about our physical Iife?
Does not our Father know that you have need of these things? “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” (Jh.14:1).
We doth not consider our Privileges as the the children God, or we would become Joyful. Because we are the children God hath sent forth His Spirit into our hearts, that ye might cry “Abba-My Father, ” and that He” might in answer to that cry “supply all your need.”
We doth not consider our Responsibility as Servants, or we would be more Watchful.
Now is the acceptable time for self sacrificing service, as well as the day of salvation, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”(Rom.12:1).
To-day if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts, “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” (Heb.2:1)
All who have received the Gospel are responsible to the Master for it “Watch ye, therefore.”
We doth not consider the gift of the Holy Spirit, are we would he more Fruitful “Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost in you, which ye have of God.”
Do we believe Him to be a Teacher and Comforter, and as one who promises spiritual power ?
Do we consider Him all-sufficient
for us in the work of God ? “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Ac.1:8).
We doth not consider the glory that is Coming, or we would be more Praiseful. The glory that is yet to be revealed in and through the redeemed of God, and that glory belongs to the eternal God and Saviour Jesus Christ “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”(I.Cor.2:9).
“We shall see His face, we shall be like Him, and shall be as Him where He is” (I.Jh.3:2).
There is a book of remembrance that is written before Him for us that think upon His Name. “Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.” (Mal.3:16) and that He has, and always will answer our cry, he will “supply all your need.”
