God, administrator of justice.

Amos 9:8,12
Amos confirms the certainty of judgment. “All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword.”

We must keep in minded that God’s covenant may be undervalued and violated by so many people.

Many professed to be of the seed of Abraham. Yet anoble ancestry is useless unless we follow their good example.

It will not avail a persons to say, “Abraham is our Father” Unless that person does the works of Abraham. Notes what Jesus said in John 7:39 “If you were Abraham’s children,, ye would do the works of Abraham”

With good patterns set before us we must learn to live holy each and ever day of day our life.

We may boast of our election, and be esteemed by others for our profession, but if we willingly break God’s covenant we cannot expect God’s blessing and protection.

God has chose us, and we are to love him, and so long as we kept his law he will protect us and save us.

Special favors does not exempt us from Divine justice. They lay us under greater obligation to obey.

Those who have much and no much will be punished more severely for their sin, and from them much will be required.

God may administrates justice with the greatest ease.

The administration of human justice contents with difficulties that baffles and confound men. But the the Almighty has no difficulty “He that toucheth the land, and it shall melt,” (V.5)

By a mere touch he can punish a nation, by a mere touch he can destroy the world.

Whence come earthquakes and volcanoes ? David stated “He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.” ( Ps. 104:32)

Never can there be any miscarriage of justice with God. He bears it right home in everycase. He has no difficulty about it “He toucheth the clouds, and they drown the world, He kindles the atmosphere and burns cities,” Gen.19:28 declares ,”And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.”
I
He does it with all the powers of nature at his command.

Amos declared in (v.6) “It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth.”

His throne is on high, above all the forms and forces of the universe, and all are at his call.

From those heights which he hath built, those upper chambers of the universe, he can pour floods to drown a world, are fires which will consume the universe. Note what Peter stated in II Peter 3,12 “Where in the heaven being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.” Every force in nature he can make with ease an officer to execute his justice.

He does it disregardful of mere religious profession. Note (v.7) “Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt,” and given them the land of Canaan, they seem to think they were the object of his greatest concern, and could never be subdued or destroyed.

The Almighty, in administering justice, is not influenced by the simple plea of one’s profession. Note what John 2:25 says,”And need not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.”

A corrupt Israelite to God was as bad as an Ethiopian, through he calls Abraham his father.

A normal Christian in the eyes of the Lord is as bad as an infidel or a heathen. God does not judge us as a man judgeth, by the outward appearance, he looketh at the heart. The Lord does it with a thorough discrimination of character.

Notices verse (v.8) “Behold the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth, saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the Lord.” There were some good people amongst the Israelites, people of genuine goodness and character.

Our great judge would not destroy the good, “I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob… I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in the sieve,”

He will burn up the chaff, but save the wheat.
