Taste and see

Psalms 34:8

From the beginning of time God has lead his people step by step, he has also taught his people by experience “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Gal.3:23,26)The lessons of the scripture are the voice of experience. The aim of the gospel, as of the entire Bible, is not merely to convey instruction, but to create a supernatural experience. “And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” (Lk.24:47,49)

Its invitation to each of us is to put truth to the test, and make this experience our own “O, taste and see,”

The goodness of God can be truly known by personal experience. The experience is with in reach of everyone to whom the gospel is preached “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom.10:13)

If you would see, you must taste, and if you do taste, you will see. God goodness in pardoning sin .To taste God goodness means to receive and enjoy it in heart felt experience “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given to us.” (Rom.5:5)

God’s goodness in answering prayer can be known by those who pray “This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.” (v.6)

God’s goodness can only be known by the pardoned sinner, by faith, by repentance, by baptize and by receiving of his Holy Spirit. ‘

The experience has no surer lesson than this. The Bible is our great storehouse of experience For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” (II.Tim.1:12)

People’s experience in all ages confirms this testimony “He is able”

Our lack of experience constitutes no reason for questioning the reality of this experience, are doubting the truth to which it bears witness. Truth is truth, believed or not.

The earth would be full of God’s goodness, though all were idolaters or atheists “Now while Paul waited for them  at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that meet with him.” (Acts17:16,17

Personal experience begets unbeatable certainty “He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or not, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.” (Jh.9:25If this experience be not yours, it ought to be, it may be. God offers salvation to all people.

These words are a invitation to come. Beware of turning these words into condemnation. “And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.” (Jh.5:40)

Are you young, happy and prosperous?

Thank God For his goodness. But he has better gifts, which will last when these fail “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:” (Mt.6:19)

Are you poor, friendless, sorrowful? “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money;come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. “Wherefore do ye spend money for which that is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.” (Isa.55:1) are you lost, Helpless against temptation, burdened with sin?

Oh, taste and see that the goodness of God waits to be pour out upon you “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom.10:11,13)
