This is not the sound of war or peril from foes. Here David speak, not as a king to rebels, but as a prophet to the “son of men” (v.2)
David warns Israel against idolatry for it will debase them.
David affirms two glorious certianties. The righteous is Gods special care. God does hear our prayers.
The righteous is God’ special care. “Set apart” by forgiveness of sin. Mal. 3:16 tell us we have been put in the book of remembrance.
We must keep in mind that pardon is universally proclaimed, “And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations” It must be bestowed and received personal. (Mt.9:2)
Repentance and faith are personal. Repentance is not collective and not partial, We are forgiven, or not forgiven, reconciled, or not reconciled
All souls are the Lord’s. Yet man has the power to rejected this claim, thus refusing this offer, disobeying his commands, despising his promise and warnings, and practically denying one’s relation to him, by denying, one must suffer the conquences.
There is comfort for us as Jesus’ disciples.
The word godly here in (v.3) implies are denoted one who loves God, “The Lord hath set apart him that is godly for his self.”
God knows those who fear him, he prizes them, he watches over them with loving jealousy. What rare people are the godly.
The rightous is more excellent than his neighbour, (Prov,12:26)
The godly are set apart as God’s peculiar treasure. (Psa.135:4) The godly are his garden of delight.
The godly are the excellent of the the earth. (Ps.16:3)
The godly are comparable to fine gold. (Lam. 4: 2)
According to (Zech.13:9) double refined.
The godly are the glory of God’s creation according to (Isa. 56:13)
God calls the godly his jewels in the book of (Mal.3:17)
If we are faithful none shall pluck us out of God’s hands.
God does hear our prayer. David said “The Lord will hear”
Such personal relationship to God would be impossible unless we can speak to him and be sure of an answer.
Prayer is the natural language of faith, the obvious condition of pardon, the appointed means of obtaining the Holy spirit.
Prayer is the expression and exercise of our personal relation to God, David said, “I am thine, save me, for I have sought thy precepts.” (Ps.119:94)
God has invited us into a personal relation with him, and he will converse with us “I counsel thee to buy of me gold refined by fire, that thou mayest become rich; and white garments, that thou mayest clothe thyself, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness be not made manifest; and eyesalve to anoint thine eyes, that thou mayest see.” (Rev.3:18)
