We are a jewel in God’s treasure

Malachi 3:17,18 The people of God are his peculiar treasures, and it is a joy to know that in a world as this that there is anything which God can regard as his own peculiar treasure. Yes, when we look about us we see sin is everywhere and in all places.

The serpent’s trail is found in earthly paradise. The works of the devil have done much to destroy the glory and mar the beauty of the creation of God.

It is true the Lord’s material works are attractive as ever. “The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works” (Ps.104:31) We human being cannot find our spiritual treasure in material works.

What value are the precious metals and the rare gems of earth to the Lord? Earthly things cannot satisfy the hunger of the the created spirit, how can they be a special treasure to the Spirit that created all things, “Will he esteem thy riches? No, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.”(Job 36:19)

It was man who was first called the friend of God, Abraham, “was called the Friend of God.” according to (Jas.2:23) It was to a nation that the first promise was first given, “ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people; for all the earth is mine.” (Ex.19:5)

The heavens are not pure in his sight, and he changes the angels with folly, yet he can find a peculiar treasure in sinful souls that fear and love him. Paul stated, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (I..Cor.3:16)

We human being are able to think upon his Name, and nurture in one another hearts the elements of a Divine life, Jude said in (v.20) “building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying the holy Ghost.” While the church of God is his treasure, every individual is an object of special regard and value, To Moses the Lord said, “For thou hast found grace in my sigh, and I know thee by name.” (Ex.33:17)

Every believer must appropriate the love and sacrifice of Christ, the apostle Paul said, “who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Gal.2:20) Yes Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and his blood has atone for our iniquity. Each individual in the world wide Church may be regarded as a jewel in the Divine treasury. We are God’s hidden ones, but not overlooked, scattered, but not lost, the world may not know us, yet (II.Tim.2:19) states, ”The Lord knoweth them that are his” These jewels are made up of the widow’s and there mites, the very poor, the uneducated, the Mary and Martha and many people like Onesimus and “the elect lady and her Children,” in (II.Jh.)

We may rest assure that God will treated us with his peculiar care. Notice what the Lord said, “in that day,” That is in the days of trail” We must not expect to be exempt from the cares and trials of this world.

But we may expect two things. First, spiritual safety in spite of our trial, (I.Cor.10:13) states, “God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted, above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” Our experiences and our time of probation, is a time in which we have proved our faithfulness and have stood the test of time, and we are stronger and much more steadfast than every before and having done so we hear the Lord saying, “ and they shall be mine saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels” (v.17)

The great robber of God and murderer of souls shall fail to pluck us out of the great Shepherd’s hand, John declared, “And I will give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (Jh. 10:27,28) Jesus said of his disciples,“None of them is lost, but the son of perdition (Jh.17:1`12)

Providential judgment is referred to in (v.17) “God will spare them as a man” He spare us as to our qualification, he has spared us because of our corrections, he spared us because of our labor, he has spared us as to our acceptance.

Christ will keep us and protect us unto the day of death. Death cannot separate us from the love of God. The day of death is a day of promotion. At death we become a peculiar treasure because we have been redeemed from all iniquity and purified for all eternity unto all good works, (Titus2:14)

The day of judgment must come for all men. (Mt.13:41,43) May I ask this question? Who will not claim his offered place among the peculiar treasure of God? Who will be able to bear these words from the great Judge in that day? “I never knew you,”
