The condition of the world is in a state of desperation – people from all walks of life are in need of a Savior.
According to the Word of God, there is a curse on mankind that was brought on by his sinful nature (Gen. 3: 14-19). The sinner can destroy himself spiritually but he cannot redeem himself spiritually. Good deeds cannot suffice to save a lost man.
The incarnation of Jesus Christ was an indispensable condition of the reunion of man and God. “…Wherefore he is able to save to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them” Hebrew 7:25.
What was the mission of Christ in his relationship to this world? First, the world was in need of a Savior. Secondly, the people of this world liked the ability itself to provide such a Savior. Thirdly, Jesus came to the world as its only Savior. “…For there is none other name (Jesus) under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
What was the relationship of Christ and the Father? Please allow me to make this very clear. The Savior is the Son of God. The Apostle Peter, the first spokesperson for the New Testament Church on the Day of Pentecost declared Christ to be the Son of God. “…Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matt. 16:16). Legion knew Christ was the son of God (Mark 5:7). Yet it was Jesus’ own people who knew Him not. “…And the world knew him not” (John 1: 10, 11). Christ was sent by the Father. The Son’s mission as a Savior is Divine in His authority (1 John 5: 49, 50).”
What was the relationship of Christ and the apostles? The apostles had a clear understanding of who the Savior was. “…And our hands handled, of the Word of life” (1 John 1:1). They had seen the Lord in the exercise of His miraculous power. They seen His astonishing glory on Mount of Transfiguration. They had seen the purity and beauty of his every day life. They had seen Him dead on the cross. They seen His sacred body laid in the sepulcher. They later seen Him alive on numerous occasions. Lastly, they beheld Him as He was taken up and a cloud received Him out of their sight. “…While they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their site” (Acts 1: 9).
The apostles testified that Jesus was in fact the Son of God (John 5:27). Today, God has appointed us as Christians to declare that Christ is the Son of God, and that He has come to redeem man from their sins. “…For he shall save his people from their sins”
